Everything you need to know about allergens in our chocolates

allergenen bonbons

At Bonbonbook, quality comes first. We want everyone to enjoy our bonbons, made with the finest Valrhona chocolate and carefully selected ingredients. But we also understand that food allergies and intolerances play an important role in choosing what you eat. That's why we are happy to provide you with more information about the allergens in our bonbons, so you can make informed choices.

Halal

Almost all our bonbons are halal. However, there is one exception: the bonbon containing alcohol, specifically the Nobels limoncello, salted butter crumble bonbon. This one contains alcohol and is therefore not halal. Do you want to be sure that you only receive halal bonbons? Then please let us know! You can indicate this in the order notes during the checkout process. In that case, we will replace the alcoholic bonbon with another delicious variant, so you can always enjoy our treats without worries.

Vegetarian Bonbons

All our bonbons are vegetarian. At Bonbonbook, we only use the best and fairest ingredients, without gelatin or other animal additives (except dairy and honey in some flavours). This way, you can enjoy our delicious chocolate creations without a care.

What are allergens?

Allergens are substances that can cause an allergic reaction in people with a hypersensitivity to certain foods. This can range from a mild irritation to a severe reaction. At Bonbonbook, we take allergens seriously and do our best to inform our customers about the potential risks.

Common allergens in chocolate products

Our bonbons are made with care and craftsmanship, but some ingredients may contain allergens. Here are some common allergens you may encounter in our bonbons:

  1. Milk: Many of our bonbons contain milk, in the form of milk powder, cream, or butter. Milk is an important ingredient in milk and white chocolate and is therefore present in most of our creations.
  2. Nuts: We use nuts such as hazelnuts and almonds in various bonbons. Even if you choose bonbons without nuts, cross-contamination cannot be completely ruled out as all bonbons are made in the same environment.
  3. Gluten: Some of our bonbons contain gluten, for example, those with speculoos or other biscuit ingredients. Although we do our best to prevent cross-contamination, traces of gluten may be present in other bonbons.
  4. Soy: Soy lecithin is a commonly used emulsifier in chocolate and provides a smooth texture. Almost all our bonbons contain this ingredient.
  5. Egg: Although not all bonbons contain egg, we sometimes use egg in, for example, meringue or other airy fillings.

How do we prevent cross-contamination?

We understand that even the smallest amounts of an allergen can cause severe reactions in people with allergies. Therefore, at Bonbonbook, we take measures to limit cross-contamination as much as possible.

What if you have an allergy?

If you have an allergy, we recommend that you contact us before placing an order. We can then advise you on which bonbons may be suitable for you. Although we cannot give a full guarantee that our products are free from certain allergens, we do our best to inform you as thoroughly as possible and help you with your choice.

Enjoy with peace of mind

At Bonbonbook, we want everyone to enjoy our delicious bonbons. We do everything we can to make our products as safe as possible for everyone, including people with food allergies.
