Everything you need to know about allergens in our chocolates

allergenen bonbons

At Bonbonbook, quality is our top priority. We want everyone to enjoy our bonbons, made with the finest Valrhona chocolate and carefully selected ingredients. But we also understand that food allergies and intolerances play a significant role in your food choices. That's why we're happy to provide you with more information about the allergens in our bonbons, so you can make informed choices.

Halal

Almost all of our chocolates are halal. There is one exception: the chocolates containing alcohol, namely Sea Buckthorn, Caramel, and Nobel. These contain alcohol and are therefore not halal.

Want to be sure you only receive halal chocolates? Let us know! You can specify this in the order notes during checkout. We'll replace the Sea Buckthorn, Caramel, and Nobel chocolates with another delicious variety, so you can always enjoy our treats without worry.

Vegetarian chocolates

All our chocolates are vegetarian. At Bonbonbook, we use only the finest and most honest ingredients, without gelatin or other animal-based additives (except for dairy and honey in some flavors). This way, you can enjoy our delicious chocolate creations without a care in the world.

What are allergens?

Allergens are substances that can cause an allergic reaction in people with food intolerances. This can range from mild irritation to a severe reaction. At Bonbonbook, we take allergens seriously and do our best to inform our customers about the potential risks.

Common allergens in chocolate products

Our chocolates are made with care and craftsmanship, but some ingredients may contain allergens. Here are some common allergens you might encounter in our chocolates:

  1. Milk: Many of our chocolates contain milk, in the form of milk powder, cream, or butter. Milk is a key ingredient in milk and white chocolate, and is therefore present in most of our creations.
  2. Notes: We use nuts like hazelnuts and almonds in various chocolates. Even if you choose nut-free chocolates, cross-contamination cannot be completely ruled out because all chocolates are made in the same environment.
  3. Gluten: Some of our chocolates contain gluten, for example, those with speculoos or other cookie ingredients. While we do our best to prevent cross-contamination, traces of gluten may be present in other chocolates.
  4. Soy: Soy lecithin is a commonly used emulsifier in chocolate and ensures a smooth texture. Almost all of our chocolates contain this ingredient.
  5. Egg: Although not all chocolates contain egg, we sometimes use egg in meringue or other light fillings.

How do we prevent cross-contamination?

We understand that even the smallest amounts of an allergen can cause severe reactions in allergy sufferers. That's why at Bonbonbook, we take measures to minimize cross-contamination.

What if you have an allergy?

If you have an allergy, we recommend contacting us before placing an order. We can then advise you on which chocolates might be suitable for you. While we can't completely guarantee that our products are free from certain allergens, we do our best to inform you as well as possible and help you with your choice.

Enjoy with peace of mind

At Bonbonbook, we want everyone to be able to enjoy our delicious chocolates. We do everything we can to make our products as safe as possible for everyone, including those with food allergies. Do you have any questions or concerns about allergens? Please feel free to contact us. We're happy to help and ensure you can enjoy our chocolates with peace of mind.
